Trail Calendar

About Trail Calendar

Trail Calendar was designed to help you meet and plan outdoor activities with people in your area. A standard account is completely free and allows you to post your own activities and comments.

On your first visit to this site, you will need to indicate your location. But on all subsequent visits, our home page will automatically show those activities planned in your area. There is no need to log in or even create an account to view those activities!

Trail Calendar was created by outdoor enthusiasts in the Salt Lake City, UT area. Although we don't mind hiking alone, we often find it more fun to meet new people on the trail. Our primary goal with this site is to help create local communities of like-minded enthusiasts and to promote the benefits of regular, outdoor activities.

The success of this site depends on the people who visit. If you own a website, please let others know about Trail Calendar by linking to us.

We are interested in your thoughts. If you have any questions, comments, or complaints about this site, please use our contact form to let us know.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I Need an Account?
No sign up is required to view scheduled activities. However, if you want to post your own activities or post comments to existing activities, you must create an account and sign in. Our system will also need to verify your email address. We feel this is necessary to prevent anyone from anonymously spamming or otherwise abusing our site.
  • How Much Does it Cost?
It costs nothing to view scheduled activities, create an account, post activities, and post comments to existing activities. We are planning the addition of premium accounts that would provide additional benefits, including the ability to create private groups and restrict who can access group activities. Premium accounts would involve an annual fee.
  • What if I don't Want Anyone/Strangers to Join my Activity?
If you have a premium account, you can create a private group and restrict who can access group activities. Otherwise, if you really don't want people to join your activity, please don't post it on this site.
  • Should I Take my Dog?
A lot of people enjoy having dogs along on hikes and other activities. But please be considerate of those who might not. The general rule is to bring your well-behaved dog only when dogs are invited or you get approval from the activity organizer.
  • Are there any Rules or Restrictions?
This site is designed to promote a positive community of outdoor enthusiasts. While there really aren't many rules at all, our Terms of Use outlines our policies and legal disclaimers. Please note that use of this site is subject to your acceptance of these terms.
