About Trail Calendar
Trail Calendar
is a free community resource designed to help you meet and plan outdoor activities with
outdoor enthusiasts in your area.
One thing unique about Trail Calendar is its simplicity. The home page
automatically shows all the activities scheduled in your area for the current
month. (The one exception is on your very first visit, when you must indicate
where you are located.) There is no need to navigate to the outdoor activity
section because the entire site is dedicated to outdoor activities.
Hiking alone is fine. But it's often much more fun to meet up with new people on
the trail. Trail Calendar's primary mission is to help create local
communities of like-minded enthusiasts and to promote the benefits of regular,
outdoor activities.
The success of this site depends on
outdoor enthusiasts like you. Please post your activities on the site and tell
your friends to do the same. If you own a website,
please let others know about Trail Calendar by linking to
us.
We are interested in your thoughts. If you have any questions, comments, or
complaints about this site, please use our contact form
to let us know.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I Need an Account?
No sign up is required to view or join scheduled activities. However, if you want to post
your own activities or post comments to existing activities, you will need to create an
account and sign in. Our system will also need to verify your email address. We feel this is necessary to prevent anyone from anonymously
spamming or otherwise abusing our site.
- How Much Does it Cost?
Currently, there are no costs associated with using any features on this site.
Note that we may add additional features in the future that require a premium
account, which may involve a fee. However, we are committed to keeping basic
functionality of this site free forever.
- What if I don't Want Anyone/Strangers to Join my Activity?
Currently, activities posted on this site can be seen by anyone. Note that we
may add features in the future that provide options to limit who can see your
activities. For now, if you really don't want anyone to join your activity,
please don't post it on this site.
- Should I Take my Dog?
A lot of people enjoy having dogs along on hikes and other activities. But please be
considerate of those who might not. The general rule is to bring your well-behaved dog
only when dogs are invited or you get approval from the activity organizer.
- What about Posting Activities that Cost Money?
Trail Calendar was designed primarily as a place where individuals could post
outdoor that others could join for free. However, we currently allow individuals
or businesses to post activities that require a fee as long as
ALL RELATED FEES ARE CLEARLY INDICATED IN THE
ACTIVITY'S DESCRIPTION. This rule will be strictly enforced.
Furthermore, businesses posting high volumes of activities may be asked to scale
back if we feel they start making it hard for users to find activities posted by
individuals.
- Are there any other Rules or Restrictions?
This site is designed to promote a positive community of outdoor enthusiasts. While
there really aren't many rules at all, our Terms of Use
outlines our policies and legal disclaimers. Please note that your use of this site is subject to your
acceptance of these terms.
